Bardolino Chiaretto DOC Classico 2021

Chiaretto 'more identity and stylistically focused'. This seems to be the new trend among Bardolino producers, including Santa Sofia. The "revolution" of Chiaretto consists in proposing wines with a very deep and bright pink colour, on the model of the rosés of Provence, and finer from an aromatic point of view. A fine example is this Bardolino Chiaretto DOC Classico, produced with grapes from the hillside vineyards in the communes of Lazise and Bardolino, to the east of Lake Garda. The blend includes a large part of Corvina grapes, about 55%, to which Rondinella and Molinara are added in smaller percentages. All the grapes are vinified in rosé, that is with partial maceration of the solid parts and, at the end of vinification, the wine is left to mature in stainless steel containers before being bottled for a further period of at least 3 months in the bottle. Brilliant coral in colour, with strong auburn reflections, the nose expresses notes of aromatic herbs, such as oregano and marjoram, and fruity ones, with raspberries, sour cherries and pomegranates. Finally, it is also possible to detect persuasive mineral, almost marine, sensations. In the mouth it is harmonious and drinkable. Soft but enlivened by a pleasant freshness. A very versatile wine, from fish and vegetable hors d'oeuvres to first courses dressed in red, it is really difficult to make a wrong choice. Also perfect with a delicious Neapolitan pizza with anchovies.
