Technical Data Sheet
CHARACTERISTICS
  • TypeStill dry white wine DOC
  • Location Veneto
  • Grapes GARGANEGA
  • Sensations It opens fresh, mineral, deep, with aromas of wild flowers (elderflower, iris, camomile). The palate is rich, complex and multidimensional with an almond aftertaste. With time, these notes develop into even more complex aromas of pollen, dried flowers.
  • Vinification Once in the cellar, the grapes are gently pressed and remain in skin maceration for 3-12 hours. After a 24-hour static decantation, the must undergoes alcoholic fermentation for 30% in steel and 70% in French oak barriques (third and fourth passage) where periodic batonnage is carried out for 6 months, after which the wine is transferred to steel. In September, the final blend is created and in November, after bottling, the "Soave Classico Foscarino" remains in refinement for a few months before being presented on the market.

The nose is quite reserved, showing some melon, pear and lavender. Then, on the palate, the expansion starts on a base of silky almond cream and builds up slowly and steadily through the long, long finish. Aftertaste of lemon cream. Never ebullient, but medium-bodied, layered and silky, this is quiet refinement flexing its muscles. Total balance. Beautifully done. All in place. Best ever. Enjoy now or hold.

    "Foscarino" Soave Classico DOC 2020
  • When the producer is Inama, of one thing you can be certain. That inside the bottle you will never find a wine that is neither banal nor predictable. Foscarino, in particular, is the Inama family's interpretation of Soave Classico. A strongly territorial white wine made from pure Garganega grapes from old vineyards over 40 years old. The vineyards are located on Monte Foscarino, where they are rooted in basaltic-lavicolous soil, enjoying a particularly favourable south-easterly exposure. Foscarino is fermented in non-new barriques followed by 6 months of maturation on its fine lees, during which it undergoes batonnage every 6 weeks. This is followed by a further 6 months of ageing in steel tanks, always in contact with the fine lees. Intense yellow in the glass, it opens fresh, mineral and deep, with aromas of wild flowers such as elderflower, iris and chamomile. In the mouth, it is rich, complex and multidimensional with an almond aftertaste. Over time, these notes evolve and transform. It is, in fact, a white wine with a good capacity for ageing. Even 10 or 15 years, if it is well stored in the cellar.

The history of the Inama winery is deeply linked to that of its founder, Giuseppe Inama, who for over forty years invested his energies in the vineyards on Monte Foscarino. What he considered, probably rightly, to be one of the most important territories in the Soave area. The winery is located in San Bonifacio, in the province of Verona. The first bottles produced by Inama date back only to 1991. The first wine was a Sauvignon, a new variety for the area, which was called 'Vulcaia', to emphasise the uniqueness of a soil of ancient volcanic origin that deserved to be enhanced with shrewd vinification and a focus on quality rather than quantity. Today, the winery is run by Stefano, Giuseppe's son, who is proving to be one of the area's most eclectic winemakers, capable of daring with innovative choices that often break with tradition. With him are Matteo, Alessio and Luca, who represent the third generation of the family. 30 hectares of land, mainly cultivated with white varieties, and conducted with passion and competence. Organic in fact, even before the label.
