"Il Buono" Lazio Rosso IGT 2022
  • From the Azienda Agricola I Lori, a beautiful winery located in the heart of Lazio, in Cori, 350 metres above sea level, comes Il Buono, a red IGT Lazio wine that comes from fascinating vineyards rooted in a predominantly tuffaceous soil, a legacy of past volcanic activity in the area. This soil gives the wine an unmistakable mineral character, enriching its structure and complexity. The Mediterranean climate, with mild winters and warm summers, completes the picture, favouring optimal ripening of the grapes. The sole protagonist here is Nero Buono, an indigenous Latium grape variety, whose bunches, harvested at the right degree of ripeness, undergo a classic red vinification process, with frequent punching-down and daily pumping-over. Fermentation takes place at a controlled temperature for about 15/20 days, preserving the fruity and spicy aromas of the variety. This is followed by a period of ageing on the noble lees for about 90 days, which gives the wine complexity, structure and a persistent finish. In the glass, it surprises with its beautiful deep ruby red colour and intense garnet reflections. On the nose, it amazes with its broad, enveloping bouquet, with notes of ripe red fruit, such as blackberry, cherry and plum, interwoven with hints of black pepper, liquorice and sweet tobacco. In the mouth, it conquers for its richness and body. The tannins are elegant and well-integrated, while the marked freshness provides balance and drinkability, inviting one to take another sip.

Passion and tradition in the heart of Lazio. This is I Lori, Azienda Agricola, an extraordinary example of dedication and love for the land. Established in 2010 in Cori, in the province of Latina, it initially made a name for itself by producing extra virgin olive oil of the highest quality. Over time, however, the company quickly conquered the market thanks to its philosophy based on meticulous care of plants and respect for nature. Cori is a charming village located between the Lepini Mountains and the Tyrrhenian Sea, an ideal environment for the cultivation of olive trees and vineyards. The Lepini Mountains offer natural protection against frost, while sea breezes caress the crops, creating a perfect microclimate for the growth of healthy, vigorous plants. In 2018, Gambero Rosso recognised the excellence of I Lori's oil, awarding it the 'three leaves' and listing it among the best in Italy. The same year also saw a significant turning point for the company, which decided to undertake wine production as well. Starting with two typical local grape varieties, Nero Buono and Bellone. Today, the I Lori estate has 25 hectares of olive groves and 12 hectares of vineyards.
