    Quaranta/Sessanta Lazio IGT
  • The mix, or rather the cut, as the experts say, is unusual but interesting. 40% Shiraz grapes and 60% Cesanese (hence the name). The prince of international grape varieties, successfully and satisfactorily cultivated in every corner of the globe, and the small native grape variety rooted in its territory of origin. A wine that, in the intentions of the producer, must represent the spearhead of the production. It is not by chance that it is not offered every year but only when the harvest is really good. Only in the best vintages. In the glass it has a beautiful deep ruby red colour. The nose has a broad bouquet of aromas ranging from ripe red fruit to sweet spices. On the palate, it is round and intense. Balanced and persistent. A wine with great personality and a touch of Italian madness.

    An Apulian, Umberto Notarnicola, and a Piedmontese, Bruno Violo. Both in love with the Lazio countryside. This may sound like the classic beginning of a joke. Instead, it is the beautiful story of the Azienda Agricola l'Olivella, located in the heart of the Castelli Romani, between Frascati and Monte Porzio. A dynamic and young company founded in 1986 and always committed to the promotion of good wines of the territory, the result of an ancient tradition and a soil of volcanic origin that gives the wine unique characteristics. A few bottles, a neat image. The ingredients for a success story are not lacking and the many international awards received by the company's wines in recent years are the best confirmation that the road taken is the right one.
