Imbottigliato all'origine da Champagne Aubry, 4 et 6 Grande Rue -51390 Jouy Les Reims
A Champagne that defies convention. Aubry's Brut Premier Cru is the emblem of a great Champagne, when wine was the most sincere expression of its territory and the work in the vineyard. It is like taking a trip back in time, but with an incredibly contemporary elegance. We are in the heart of the Montagne de Reims, more precisely in the village of Jouy-lès-Reims, a magical place where viticulture has been at home for centuries. Here, Maison Aubry is among the pioneers in rediscovering the region's ancient and almost forgotten grape varieties. In fact, in addition to the more famous Pinot Noir and Chardonnay, the family vineyards also grow Arbane, Petit Meslier and Fromenteau (Pinot Gris), native varieties that were once the norm and today make this Champagne an absolute rarity. This dedication to tradition, combined with sustainable practices in the vineyard, allows the winery to produce wines that authentically reflect the complexity of a unique terroir. Classified as Premier Cru, this Champagne is a genuine and balanced expression of the Maison's style. It is made from a blend of Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Pinot Meunier and small percentages of Arbane, Fromenteau and Petit Meslier. Fermentation takes place in steel vats with indigenous yeasts, without filtration. This is followed by a long rest of almost three years on the lees in the bottle. This process gives the wine unparalleled aromatic complexity and depth. The nose offers a whirlwind of sensations: citrus notes of grapefruit and lemon, which then open up with hints of white-fleshed fruits such as apple and peach, enriched with hints of bread crust, hazelnut and a touch of acacia honey. On the palate, it is an explosion of freshness and flavour, with fine, persistent bubbles that caress the palate without tiring it. The long, mineral finish invites you to take another sip. This wine has excellent ageing potential. Well stored in the cellar, it can evolve positively for up to 5-7 years. At that point, it will reveal more complex and mature notes, which will further expand its bouquet. A true wild card in the kitchen, it is not your usual aperitif wine. Try it with raw fish dishes and medium-aged cheeses for a classic but always winning combination. However, it reaches its peak when paired with light fried foods. Its freshness cleanses the palate and makes it irresistible with both fish and vegetable fritters.
Champagne Aubry is a family-run Maison that stands out in the varied Champagne landscape for its strong identity. Its headquarters are in Jouy-lès-Reims, in the north of Champagne, in the so-called Petit Montagne de Reims, much appreciated by those who love Champagne with character. The company is run by Pierre and Philippe Aubry, two brothers who represent the latest generation of a family with roots in viticulture dating back to 1790. Pierre studied oenology and Philippe studied biology: a useful combination for harmonising tradition and innovation. The vineyards are spread over approximately 60 parcels covering an area of about 15 hectares, in renowned communes such as Jouy-lès-Reims, Pargny, Villedommage, Coulommes-la-Montagne and Pargny. Here, the microclimate, thanks to the surrounding hills and moderate altitude, helps to maintain freshness and balanced acidity in the grapes. The vineyards are meticulously cared for, with a selection of individual plots and very low yields to obtain the highest quality. In the cellar, however, respect for tradition prevails, with lightly dosed wines and practices that reveal the terroir. Some cuvées are also fermented in wood. Furthermore, Aubry does not limit himself to using the most well-known grape varieties, such as Pinot Noir, Meunier and Chardonnay. In fact, the brothers have also reintroduced ancient grape varieties that had almost disappeared, such as Arbanne, Petit Meslier and Fromenteau (Blanc Vrai), which give the wines unique nuances.
