Native Son by Kuleto Estate is a blend composed of Zinfandel, Malbec, Petite Syrah, Merlot and Tempranillo. Made with grapes from Napa Valley, California, it comes from careful vinification of all separate varieties. After racking, and after making up the blend, the wine is left to mature in French, American and Slavonian oak barrels for a period of no less than 16 months. The result is a pleasantly rich wine, characterized by a ruby red color. On the nose, red fruits, particularly cherries, but a pleasant vegetal and freshly ground pepper sensation. In the mouth, Zinfandel gives the wine a strongly fruity character, with ripe tannins and a long soft finish.
