Wente Beyer Ranch Zinfandel

The world of wine made in the US is changing. Only a few years ago, most of the labels offered were the result of the processing of a single variety. Today, however, we are increasingly encountering interesting thoroughbred American wines, the result of a particular blend of several varieties. As in this case. This red wine comes from the Livermore Valley region and is made from an unusual mix of Zinfandel, in a clear majority, with Petite Syrah, Petit Verdot and just a touch of very Italian Barbera and Malbec. The ingredients are all there, therefore, to obtain a wine with character. If you add to this a maturation of more than a year in American and European wood barrels, you can be sure to bring home a great product. The colour is deep and dark red. The aromas are of blackberry, ripe cherry, strawberry jam and the ever-present vanilla. In the mouth the dark fruit returns and a memory of boiserie. The tannins are nicely present, even if fine and velvety, while the finish is long and persistent.
