Babich "Black Label" Sauvignon Blanc 2022

Just the word Sauvignon Blanc is enough to fly off (unfortunately, only with the imagination) to the green shores of New Zealand. Land of choice for this extraordinary, aromatic, white grape variety native to France. Babich Black Label, Sauvignon Blanc 2019 offered here by Babich Wines, is made with grapes from one of the best-known (and most popular) areas for growing Sauvignon. We are talking about Marlborough, northeastern part of the South Island. After harvesting, the grapes are quickly crushed and pressed in stainless steel tanks, where temperature-controlled fermentation also takes place to best safeguard the intense varietal aromas. Only a small portion of the mass is fermented in old oak barrels to contribute to the complexity of the finished wine. Brilliant straw yellow, the nose offers aromas of mango and nectarine, minerals and lime. Then sweet herbs and a pinch of tomato leaf. The palate is pleasantly fruity, with hints of mango, kiwi, quince and the tangerine.
