Let's start with the name. Pouilly-Fumé is synonymous with the Loire, one of the most fascinating regions of France. The climate is pleasantly cool, and the white grape varieties do well here, especially Sauvignon, which is processed with care and skill by historic companies such as Maison de Ladoucette. This Baron de L, in particular, is probably considered one of the highest expressions of the vine, the result of careful selection and able to mature for a long time in the bottle.
