"Atlantis" Albariño DO Rias Baixas DO 2024
    • Today we find ourselves in a unique territory. A borderland where the climate and natural environment play a crucial role in the production of unique and inimitable wines. We are on the Atlantic coast, where the humid winds from the sea constantly whip the rows of Albariño vines. This is where a wine is born that tastes of salty breeze and freshly picked fruit: Atlantis by Vintae. Located in the Condado do Tea sub-zone of the Rías Baixas DO, the vineyards are planted on sandy terraces with granite subsoil, at an altitude of 100-250 metres, on the steep slopes of the right bank of the Miño River. The microclimate here is slightly warmer and drier than in coastal areas, but always tempered by ocean mists: ideal conditions for slow ripening that concentrates aromas and maintains a vibrant freshness. The Designation of Origin is Rías Baixas. Established in 1988 and divided into five sub-zones, it protects more than 4,300 hectares of smallholdings and celebrates the native varieties that have shaped these Atlantic landscapes for centuries. Albariño is the most important variety, accounting for over 96% of production. Harvested by hand in small crates in September, with selection of the bunches already in the vineyard, fermentation begins in the cellar at a controlled temperature in steel tanks, followed by ten weeks of ageing sur lie. The time spent on the lees amplifies the volume and complexity without affecting the aromatic immediacy. Bright lemon yellow in colour, the nose is characterised by an explosion of green apple, pineapple and mango, with a hint of minerality reminiscent of wet stone. On the palate, it is juicy, with a beautiful glycerine texture and a marked saline acidity that lengthens the finish. The finish is persistent, with citrus notes and a touch of saltiness that invites you to pour another glass. On the table, it is the natural companion for seafood, grilled shellfish, ceviche, sushi and savoury dishes such as Galician-style octopus. Outside the classics, it surprises with fresh goat's cheese, vegetable empanadas or a seafood paella.

Vintae is a Spanish winery that has revolutionised the national wine scene with a creative, dynamic approach that is deeply rooted in the territory. Founded in 1999 by José Miguel Arambarri Terrero, an entrepreneur originally from Rioja, the company was born from a desire to revive the Moscatel de Grano Menudo variety, which had disappeared due to phylloxera. This initial project gave rise to the Castillo de Maetierra and Maetierra Dominum wineries, marking the beginning of the Vintae adventure. With the arrival of his sons Ricardo and José Miguel, Vintae expanded its vision, exploring different Spanish wine regions. Today, the company owns over 300 hectares of vineyards, cultivating 38 grape varieties and producing more than 35 different wines, distributed in over 60 countries. Vintae's philosophy is based on creating authentic, accessible wines that are representative of the different Spanish territories. The company stands out for its innovative marketing and attractive design, breaking with the traditional codes of the sector and making wine a fun and engaging experience. Vintae is also committed to sustainability and winemaking innovation. Projects such as Le Naturel, a natural wine produced without added sulphites, and the Pandemonium range of sparkling wines, made from grapes grown at high altitudes, demonstrate the company's desire to explore new frontiers while respecting the environment.
