The Casisano 2017 Rosso di Montalcino opens to bright and tonic aromas of wild cherry and pressed blackberry. The wine's fruit-forward signature is well defined, especially so in this hot and dry vintage. That plush berry brightness makes this wine a natural companion to pasta topped with chunks of smoked bacon and grated pecorino cheese.

The red wine that the Tommasi family offers here belongs to this category. Lively, fresh and easy to drink, it is a perfect everyday wine. Casisano's Rosso di Montalcino comes from younger vines than those used to make the Brunello, planted in 2015. More vigorous plants that still need to be tamed but that have all the potential of those that have been in the ground for years and years. The rest undergoes a shorter ageing of about 8 months in Slavonian oak barrels, followed by at least 6 months in the bottle. The result is a wine characterized by an intense ruby red colour with beautiful transparency. The nose reveals a complex bouquet reminiscent of violet, plum and small red fruits, combined with delicate hints of spice. In the mouth it is dry, with a pleasant balance between tannins and acidity. Fresh and persistent finish.
