"Rocca di Cesena" Sangiovese Superiore Riserva DOC 2020

Awarded by the most demanding wine and food critics, this important Romagna red wine is the result of direct observation by Leonardo da Vinci, who arrived in this green corner of Italy in 1502. The love of the land and the vines here reaches absolute heights. And the noble Sangiovese reaches high levels of excellence in these parts. Romagna DOC, this red wine comes from grapes grown in the areas of Castrocaro Terme, Predappio, Meldola and Bertinoro. Harvested by hand in the second half of September, the grapes are vinified with fermentation at a controlled temperature, during which frequent pumping over and punching down are carried out to allow the complete extraction of colour. Then, after racking, the wine is aged for at least two years, partly in wood and partly in stainless steel tanks. Intense ruby red colour tending towards garnet, this Sangiovese reveals typical notes reminiscent of small red berries, followed by a fresh fragrance of iris and violets. There is also a sweet vanilla note on the finish. Powerful but soft tannins, this wine enjoys a perfect balance between freshness and warmth. If grilled meat is the protagonist on the table, the right wine in the glass can only be this Rocca di Cesena.
