Gamay Vallée d'Aosta DOC 2021

An interesting but little-known grape variety, Gamay originates in lower Burgundy, particularly in the area known as Beaujolais. In Valle d'Aosta it was introduced at the end of the 1960s, finding an ideal habitat. Cave de Onze Communes processes Gamay in purity, using grapes that come from vineyards located on the orographic right and left of the Dora Baltea, between 650 and 800 metres above sea level. To enhance the pleasantly fruity character of this vine, the Gamay from the Cave is processed exclusively in steel, at a controlled temperature. This allows its vinous characteristics and most typical floral notes to be brought out. After processing, bottling takes place in the late spring following the harvest. An ideal wine as an aperitif or for an afternoon snack, it satisfyingly accompanies local cured meats. On the table, on the other hand, it calls for light and delicate first courses, white meats and delicious savoury pies.
