Not many people are familiar with the quality of Valdostan wines. And that is not strange. So few are produced that only true experts often have the opportunity to taste them. Yet the productions, although small, are often of excellent quality. After all, the area of Chambave, a central village in Valle d'Aosta, located 18 km east of Aosta and 7 km west of Saint-Vincent, is an area of ancient wine production. Even the first written traces referring to wines produced here, at the foot of Europe's highest peaks, date back to the early Middle Ages. Moreover, the soil is perfect for growing quality grapes, with sandy, pebbly, shallow soils rich in mineral salts. This is where La Crotta di Vegneron is located, a young winery consisting of almost 100 'vigneron' who, all together, cultivate just over 30 hectares of vineyards. Their speciality are the wines produced from the particular indigenous grape varieties of the region, without of course forgetting the more traditional ones. Mountain wines, sincere and good.
