Valle d'Aosta PDO Torrette Superiore - Les Cretes

In the heart of Valle d'Aosta, where the Dora Baltea flows placidly, mitigating the biting cold of the Valley’s winters. The Torrette Superiore by Les Cretes is a wine deeply linked to the regional tradition, produced with pure Petit Rouge grapes. This vine, quite common below Mont Blanc, gives life to a wine consumed throughout the meal by the enthusiasts of the Aosta Valley, thanks to the perfect balance and the richness of its scents. In the glass, in fact, it is a beautiful ruby red colour that is particularly vibrant, thanks to the obvious violet hues. The nose is decidedly floral, with notes of dried rose and violet, but also fruity with immediate memories of cherry and dark fruit. While the nose offers superb emotions, it does not disappoint in the mouth either. The same pleasant notes perceived by the nose return, well supported by an unexpected freshness and a vivid minerality. A wine that makes its versatility a strength. A mountain red that requires the right pairing to give diners an unforgettable experience.

Viticulture in Val d’Aosta is clearly not made up of large numbers and wines produced in large quantities. It is a viticulture made of small pearls and great excellences. Among the founding fathers of quality viticulture in this remote corner of Italy is undoubtedly Costantino Charrère, of Les Cretes. In fact, it is mainly thanks to him that, from one moment to the next, enthusiasts from all over the world became aware of the great potential of the mountain viticulture practiced at the foot of Mont Blanc. Les Cretes, founded in 1989, is one of the symbol companies of the region, dedicated to the preservation and enhancement of the many native vines of Valle d'Aosta: from Petit Rouge to Fumin and Petite Arvine. All this with a deep respect for the environment and its protection that led them first to obtain organic certification and then even to embrace the biodynamic philosophy. The result is pure and elegant wines, the fruit of a modern viticulture aimed at exalting what nature has created. Every single wine from Les Cretes, whether white, red or sparkling, expresses all the passion for the territory and the richness of the terroir of the high mountains. Each one unique. All simply extraordinary.

Beautiful, pure raspberries here, as well as hibiscus, fruit tea, citrus and rhubarb. This is a wine all about transparency, not power. Driven acidity highlights colorful berries, which flit between fine layers of silky tannins and deeper depressions of flavorful, stoney alleys. A pretty, ornately textured wine with salty undertones throughout. Drink now.
