"Conte Girolamo" Rosso Puglia IGT 2018

Tenute Girolamo presents this interesting red from the region, Conte Giangirolamo, Puglia IGP, 50% Primitivo and 50% Negroamaro. Two grape varieties that represent the best of regional viticulture. The production area is the Valle d'Itria, with vineyards at about 450 metres above sea level, in an ideal position for ripening quality grapes. The soils here are rich in limestone, with a red soil rich in minerals. After soft maceration and subsequent fermentation in steel tanks, the wine is matured in French oak barriques for 18 months. Then, after bottling, the wine matures for a further 6 months in the cellar. Intense ruby red colour with violet hues, the nose reveals fruity aromas, with hints of cherry, blackberry and blueberry, elegant spicy notes of vanilla and cocoa. In the mouth, however, it is dry, full, harmonious and persistent. A pleasantly tannic and elegant wine. Ideal for meat dishes, perfect with first courses dressed with meat sauce, but also mature cheeses and cured meats.
