"Pizzo Rosso" Primitivo Puglia IGP 2020

Elegant in its dress, Pizzo Rosso is a worthy representative of its land. A Primitivo, Puglia IGP proposed by Tenute Girolamo. A complex and refined wine on the palate. Elegant and distinctly territorial in its identity. It is born in the heart of Valle d'Itria, about 450 metres above sea level. Here the soils are characteristic, with a fine base of limestone and red earth rich in precious minerals. The grapes, harvested when fully ripe, are brought to the winery for processing. After a soft maceration and subsequent fermentation in steel tanks, a long maturation in French oak barriques follows for at least 12 months. Finally, the process is completed with a further period of maturation in the bottle for about 6 months. Intense ruby red in colour, the nose of the Primitivo reveals itself to be particularly fruity, with hints of cherry, wild berries, plum and evident spicy notes of vanilla and nutmeg. A delicate hint of dark chocolate also appears on the finish. In the mouth, it is dry, velvety, soft and persistent, with a perfect correspondence to what has been perceived before. A wine for the whole meal, it goes well with cured meats, mature cheeses, red meats and stewed vegetables.
