Sussumaniello Salento IGP Notte Rossa 2020

Susumaniello is a grape variety native to Puglia. A native variety, its presence in the heel of Italy has been documented since the 18th century. Until recently, however, Susumaniello was considered a low-profile grape variety, grown mainly for table wine production. Only in recent years, thanks to the work of forward-thinking producers, has this grape variety begun to attract the attention of experts and enthusiasts. Vinified in purity, with care and modern methods, Susumaniello produces intense and complex wines that are absolutely worthy of note. A fine example is this Notte Rossa, pure Sussumaniello, aged in French and American oak barrels for about 6 months. A deep ruby red, the nose of this wine is striking for its complex bouquet, with notes of red fruit intertwined with spicy nuances in perfect balance. In the mouth, however, it is the tannin that attracts attention. Present but not intrusive, it integrates well with all the other taste components. Full, structured, of innate elegance and harmony. A wine to be served throughout a meal. Provided, however, that the menu is all meat, with savory or spicy dishes.
