Vermentino Montecucco DOC 2022

If Sangiovese is the most representative red grape variety of Tuscany (and more generally of central Italy), Vermentino is undoubtedly the white grape variety that best interprets the Mediterranean style of white wines produced in the region. This grape, it should be remembered, loves warm climates and does not disdain the proximity of the sea. It is no coincidence that it is cultivated in almost all regions bordering the sea, from Tuscany (in fact) to Sardinia. Here Canneta offers it in the Montecucco DOC version, produced with grapes grown on the company's estate in Cinigiano, in the province of Grosseto, in vineyards at an altitude of 300 metres. A traditional wine of the Maremma, this 100% Vermentino presents itself in the glass with a beautiful straw yellow colour. The nose is surprising for the delicacy of its aromas, with predominant notes of citrus fruits, such as lemon and grapefruit, accompanied by hints of peach, green apple, white flowers and aromatic herbs. On the palate, however, it is dry, soft and savoury. Perfect as an aperitif, this Maremma white wine goes well with first and second courses of delicately flavoured fish.
