An absolutely unique Franciacorta DOCG. And not just because it is the fruit of the marvellous Bellavista winery, an icon of style and refinement. Nectar, in fact, 100% Chardonnay, is produced on the inspiration of an ancient winemaking technique. On the winery's website it is defined as "Ancestral and contemporary, centred on a production approach that is both archaic and avant-garde". Nectar is one of the few Franciacorta wines produced in a Demi Sec version, that is, with a certain sugar component that makes it especially suitable for the end of a meal and for pairing with desserts. Extremely rare, it is the result of a dedicated cuvée. The grapes are harvested in at least 30 different high hillside vineyards with excellent southern exposure. Then 50% of the fermentation takes place in small white oak barrels. For the re-fermentation in the bottle and the final dosage after disgorging, a sugary must made from estate-grown grapes left on the vine to dry is used. A precious wine, in the glass it is covered with a beautiful, long-lasting white froth, well supported by a fine perlage. The colour is deep straw yellow, with elegantly sweet aromas: honey, pastries, vanilla berries, candied citrus fruits and flowers. In the mouth it is full and enveloping, creamy, soft and balanced.
Speak of Franciacorta sparkling wines and you inevitably think of Bellavista. In fact, there are few wine companies in Italy that are able to identify so deeply with their territory. Bellavista is one of them. It was born in 1977 from a dream of the entrepreneur Vittorio Moretti who chose this estate near Erbusco to give life to his own entrepreneurial project. A project that today, a few years later, coincides with the large group that bears the name of Terra Moretti and produces excellent and exclusive wines in various corners of Italy. The name of the winery, as few people know, refers to the hill on which the estate stands and from which one can admire Lake Iseo, the Po Valley and the nearby Alps at a glance. The estate can now count on more than one hundred plots of land scattered throughout the territory from which the grapes used for the production of classic method sparkling wines come. Approximately one and a half million bottles per year. But there is no need to worry if the numbers seem decidedly large. The house style is impeccable and all the wines have a clearly recognisable character. Hard to go wrong with the choice!
