Imbottigliato all'origine da Soc.Agr.Montina srl, Via Baiana, 17 - Monticelli Brusati (BS)
Satèn – a word that evokes delicacy, the sensation of touching a precious fabric. This style of sparkling wine, exclusive to Franciacorta, intentionally recalls the softness of silk, thanks to a slightly lower pressure in the bottle compared to classic Brut. We are in Monticelli Brusati, one of the most charming and green corners of Franciacorta. Here the Bozza family runs the Montina winery with passion. The vineyards grow on glacial moraine soils, rich in minerals left behind thousands of years ago by retreating glaciers. This particular soil gives the grapes an extraordinary natural savouriness. This label is made from 100% Chardonnay. Franciacorta Chardonnay is famous for combining citrus freshness with a buttery structure – qualities that are enhanced here by meticulous vineyard management at around 200–250 metres above sea level. About 25% of the base wine ferments and ages in wood until the spring following the harvest. This step gives the wine greater structure and a broader aromatic expression. After blending, the cuvée undergoes its second fermentation in bottle and rests on the lees for 28 months. A necessary waiting period that allows the perlage to become extremely fine and the aromas to merge perfectly. The colour is deep golden yellow, a sign of perfectly managed ripeness. The bouquet is intense and immediately inviting, with fragrant notes of pastry, freshly baked croissants and delicate chamomile flowers. On the palate it is a true surprise: pleasantly velvety, almost caressing, yet supported by vibrant freshness that invites a second glass. The finish is clean and leaves a memory of ripe yellow fruit. At the table this Montina Satèn plays an attacking role. Perfect with delicate first courses such as risotto with zucchini flowers and saffron, where the creaminess of the wine balances that of the rice. It also pairs beautifully with fish, especially salt-baked sea bass, which enhances its mineral character. It can even accompany veal scallops with lemon.
Welcome to the world of Montina, a winery that embodies the most authentic essence of Franciacorta. The story of this estate began in 1982, when the three Bozza brothers – Gian Carlo, Vittorio and Alberto – decided to pursue their dream in Monticelli Brusati, a charming village in the north-east of Franciacorta. Here they purchased a 17th-century estate that once belonged to the Montini family, ancestors of Pope Paul VI. Today the company is led by Michele, Daniele and Anna, the new generation of the family, who continue the tradition with a fresh perspective. Their philosophy? To produce outstanding sparkling wines that are, above all, a pleasure to share. For the Bozza family, wine is not merely an agricultural product but a true creative act. To achieve this, they rely on 72 hectares of vineyards spread across seven different municipalities of the area. Each plot offers different nuances, allowing the creation of balanced and complex cuvées. The winery itself is an impressive work of engineering, carved for more than 7,000 square metres into the hillside: a choice that not only preserves the landscape but also ensures a constant and natural temperature for the wines during their long ageing. Moreover, the use of the famous vertical Marmonier press – an extremely rare tool that allows an exceptionally gentle pressing of the grapes – makes the difference between an ordinary sparkling wine and a Franciacorta that is silky and deep. In addition, Montina is the first winery in Franciacorta to host a permanent Contemporary Art Gallery.
