Satèn is a word invented by producers from Franciacorta to describe Blanc de Blancs sparkling wines, that is produced exclusively with white berried grapes, and characterized by a slightly lower pressure in the bottle than usual. The most special Franciacorta wines are born from the encounter of elegant and perfumed wines derived from Chardonnay and Pinot Bianco grapes, and more subtle and less aggressive bubbles in the mouth. This innovative style was born thanks to the intuition and experimentation of a few visionary wineries in the Brescia area. Among this Contadi Castaldi that, since then, has made this Satèn one of the top products of its range. Pure Chardonnay grapes harvested at full maturity, this Franciacorta is aged on the lees for over three years. A necessary time for it to reach the right complexity and the desired richness. In the glass it is a classic bright straw yellow colour, enhanced by a fine and persistent perlage. The nose is fresh and elegant, with notes of flowers, citrus and especially typical bread crust. In the mouth it is soft but not sweet. Fresh but not overly acidic. A pleasant wine and well balanced in all its parts.
Founded in 1991, Contadi Castaldi is one of the most popular wineries in Franciacorta. One of those wineries that, thanks to the quality of its wines and a more than enviable consistency of production, have become over the years a real point of reference for wine lovers and experts.
