"Il Rosso di Ludovico" Sicilia DOC Riserva 2018
  • The Ludovico protagonist of this label is the President of the Orestiadi Foundation, Ludovico Corrao. A man who, as we read on the winery's website, 'knew how to live the purity of life with essentiality and elegance, savouring its scents, sounds and colours every day'. A beautiful dedication for a beautiful wine. This Rosso di Ludovico, DOC Sicilia Riserva, is made from a blend of 90% Nero d'Avola with 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Grapes from estate vineyards characterised by a particular Terra Nera and gentle slopes that reach up to 500 metres above sea level. After vinification, Il Rosso di Ludovico matures for about 6 months in steel tanks and then for 16-18 months in French oak barriques. Then, after bottling, the wine remains in the cellar for at least another 12 months of rest. Intense ruby red colour with purple highlights, the nose reveals a rich bouquet, with notes of dark fruits, such as plums, black cherries and blueberries, which alternate and blend with spicy nuances of liquorice, tobacco, pepper and cocoa. In the mouth it is pleasantly powerful, with a complex, ample and enveloping structure and soft, finely balanced tannins. Rosso di Ludovico is perfect with grilled red meats and mature cheeses.

A story of strength, proactive pride and passion. This is the starting point for the story of the Orestiadi Estates, born in 2008 in the heart of the Belìce Valley. We are in Gibellina, in the western part of Sicily, in the heart of the golden triangle composed of Trapani, Marsala and Agrigento. Here Mediterranean scents and colours are interwoven with myth and art. Tenute Orestiadi represent a journey through completely different terroirs, with rich and varied characteristics. With only one common denominator: the ability to valorise indigenous varietals. Then, in 2018, thanks to shared values and the same love for the territory, Tenute Orestiadi began a collaboration with a beautiful reality on Etna, La Gelsomina.
