The prince among white grape varieties, Chardonnay has a place of honour in Sicilian viticulture. Thanks to its renowned ability to adapt to all climatic and environmental conditions, even here in the Belice Valley, the world's most widespread white grape knows how to produce quality fruit. Siquelia offers it in a particularly interesting guise. Sicilia Doc, this wine is the result of a simple but careful processing of the best grapes, which arrive in the cellar a few hours after the harvest. No particular artifice is used to alter the initial aromatic picture. Only a period of refinement of 5 or 6 months in stainless steel tanks, where the wine is left to rest on its noble lees to enrich itself and acquire greater complexity. Thus we discover a white wine characterised by a beautiful straw yellow colour. Intense aromas of citrus and tropical fruits go hand in hand with notes of fresh mint and white flowers. Medium-bodied, it is pleasantly fruity, savoury and elegant on the palate. Persistent and perfect for more than one occasion. Good as an aperitif, it goes well with delicate foods. Excellent with fish dishes, it is the right bottle to accompany a simple pasta with clams in white, with a little garlic and fresh parsley.
Siquelia is Marzia Lo Vecchio's Sicilian company, dynamic and with a strong and decisive character, founded on a passion for her land, with its ancient winemaking traditions, mixed with a sophisticated and refined creative taste. The result is a contemporary line of high quality wines, made from fine grapes of indigenous varieties grown in the Belice Valley, one of the most renowned areas in Sicily today for the production of quality wines, where vines and wine have always been a constant presence. Here the vineyards, located at altitudes ranging from 350 to 450 metres above sea level, have favourable east/west exposures. Ideal microclimatic conditions, with intense sunlight, mild temperatures and a good temperature range between day and night, are key factors in the natural ripening process of the grapes and the concentration of aromatic substances in their skins. After harvesting, the grapes are vinified in Partinico, in the cellar of winemaker Vincenzo Bambina.
