"Sitarč" Rosso Terre Siciliane IGP 2022
  • With its beautiful large bottle and dark, elegant label, this Sitarè comes from an all-international blend. 70% Syrah, 15% Merlot and 15% Cabernet, grapes perfectly adapted to this magnificent corner of Sicily, where the climate and soils seem to be designed specifically to give life to great red wines. Terre Siciliane IGP, this red wine proposed by Feudo Agricolo Rudinì will give great satisfaction to experts and amateurs alike. Harvesting takes place in the latter part of August, after the grapes have had a chance to ripen perfectly, warmed by the generous Mediterranean sun. In the cellar, processing is simple but accurate, with maceration, fermentation and refinement in thermoregulated steel tanks. After bottling, the wine rests in the cellar for several months before being put on the market. Garnet red, as soon as it is poured this Sitarè fills the room with its intense scent of red and dark berry fruit, to which is added an ever-present touch of sweet spices. In the mouth it is rich and full-bodied. A pleasantly tannic red, with that intriguing note of black pepper, typical for Syrah. An easy wine to match. As long as the menu on the table is all meat-based. Also excellent with cured meats and tasty cheeses.

Long before the advent of the cherry tomato, the territory of Pachino was characterised by the green expanses of bush-trained vineyards. And the story of Saro Di Pietro, the 'cantiniere', founder of the Rudinì winery, is linked to this very land. In 1969, Saro was a must seller. As a taster, sitting at the 'scagno' in the central square of Pachino, he judged the musts of local winemakers which, once 'promoted', could take the road to northern Italy where they were used to enrich local wines. In 1972, Saro Di Pietro bought the Rudinì palmento from Count Corrado Moncada di Paternò and built a modern wine cellar there, focusing everything on Nero d'Avola. A more than apt choice, we might say today.... After all, Pachino has always been considered the cradle of Nero d'Avola and an area of origin of great red wines. An area that enjoys absolutely unique pedoclimatic conditions. Located at the southernmost point of Europe, at the southernmost tip of Sicily, facing the Mediterranean and the African coast. Rudinì draws its grapes from over 200 hectares of the most qualified vineyards around Pachino. In addition to the prince of Sicilian wines, Nero d'Avola, the Rudinì wine range includes Chardonnay, Inzolia, Syrah and Merlot. International grape varieties that have, however, found an optimal habitat in Sicily.
