Nero d'Avola DOC Sicilia Lamuri - Tasca d'Almerita

"Lamùri", or the love that the Tasca family puts into all its wines. This is how the description of this fabulous Nero d'Avola starts, with a real declaration of love. Perhaps one of the most appreciated products from this Sicilian company. The result of careful vinification, this red wine undergoes a careful period of maturation in wood that does not affect the freshness of the varietal aromas. In the glass it is a beautiful, intense ruby red colour with brilliant hues. The nose is reminiscent of red fruit ripened thanks to the beautiful Sicilian sun, with a slight hint of spice and vanilla. In the mouth it is well structured, soft and balanced.

Tasca d'Almerita is a historic Sicilian winery whose roots go as far back as the nineteenth century. Today, the Tasca family owns almost six hundred hectares of vineyards, divided among the most suitable wine-growing areas in the region, and grouped into five wonderful estates, including Regaleali. This allows the company to offer the market a practically endless range of wines, whose only common denominator is absolute elegance and quality. Each label, from the most important reds to the elegant sparkling wines and products made with skill from the island's many indigenous grape varieties, is always traceable to the same high standard offered by the company. Style and elegance can also be found in the two resorts opened by the company in Sicily and which every year host Tasca d'Almerita brand enthusiasts from all over the world.

    The 2017 Sicilia Nero d’Avola Lamùri Tenuta Regaleali shows extra ripeness and sunny concentration that come forth in the wine's soft, jammy aromas. The bouquet emits dried cherry confit and blackberry preserves. The vintage heat also plays up those varietal tones of scorched earth. I taste the vintage more than I taste the fruit. But there's no complaining at this low price point. Some 280,000 bottles were made.
