    "Quater Vitis" Rosso Sicilia DOC 2019
    • Quater Vitis, Terre Siciliane IGT Rosso, is not just a wine. It is a one-way ticket to a journey into the heart of the largest island in the Mediterranean. An unusual blend of Nero d'Avola, Perricone, and Frappato grown on the Pianoro Cuddìa estate in the Trapani area, with Nerello Cappuccio from the Cavanera estate on Mount Etna. Four different harvests to bring out the best in each variety, and four separate vinifications. Each wine is then aged in American and French oak barriques for a maximum of 10 months. Here too, the choice of different woods is not a mere whim of the winemaker but a deliberate choice, as each wood brings a different woody note to the final wine. It has a deep ruby color with lively violet hues and reveals notes of red and black fruit with spices and chocolate on the nose. On the palate, it is juicy and smooth. A beautiful natural tannicity is kept under constant control by a pleasant acidity.
      Firriato is undoubtedly one of Sicily's most representative wineries. Modern in its conception, style, and marketing, Firriato was born from the idea of a visionary entrepreneur from Trapani, Salvatore Di Gaetano, who has always been supported by his charming wife Vinzia, who for years has also represented the public image of the winery around the world. It is the 1980s, and Sicilian wine is about to experience its golden age, its renaissance, as someone wrote in the past. Today, almost 40 years later, the Firriato winery is a solid reality, based in Paceco, between Trapani and Erice, with vineyards scattered throughout various areas of Sicily. The estate owns approximately 320 hectares of vineyards, divided into seven different estates, including one on the slopes of Mount Etna and one on the island of Favignana. While the countryside is governed by the strictest respect for nature, in the winery it is technology that helps the winemakers to get the best out of every variety they work with, whether indigenous or international. The result is wines that are awarded by critics all over the world and sought after by enthusiasts, year after year.
