Ramione is almost synonymous with Baglio di Pianetto. This is because it was the first red wine produced in Pianetto and it is the one that still today enthusiasts from all over the world recognize as being the purest expression of the Sicilian winery's style. Ramione, as few people know, is a tribute by the Marzotto family to the previous owner of the estate, Baron Antonio Palizzolo di Ramione. An interesting and enterprising figure, it was he who started the cultivation of vines in Pianetto. Soft and balanced, Ramione represents the right meeting point between Sicily and France. It is, in fact, a blend of Nero d'Avola and Merlot, aged in French oak barrels to acquire the right complexity. Red fruit on the nose while on the palate, in addition to ripe fruit, there are notes of coffee and pepper. Tannins, well present and perceivable, represent a strong point of the wine and contribute to make it even more interesting and enjoyable.
