"Meridiano 12" Syrah Sicilia DOC 2021

Meridiano 12, Sicilia DOC, Syrah in purity. This red wine by Tenute Gorghi Tondi originates in the vineyards crossed by the 12th meridian, an ideal place for the cultivation of vines and the production of quality wines. Here, in fact, the grapes acquire richness and intensity of aroma, as well as a pleasant savouriness. A certified organic wine, the grapes are harvested in the south-western area of the island, between Mazara del Vallo and Trapani, at an altitude of around 25 metres above sea level. From a vineyard, in particular, 17 years old, with high density and low yield per hectare. Harvesting takes place during the first ten days of September. In the cellar, the must ferments in steel at a controlled temperature, with pellicular maceration lasting about 2 weeks. At the end of the alcoholic fermentation, malolactic fermentation also takes place. The resulting wine matures in steel, on its fine lees, for about 7 months. Ruby red in colour with violet hues, the nose reveals a fruity aroma with hints of raspberry, blackberry and cherry. Then hints of sage and the characteristic black pepper. In the mouth, however, it is rich, intense and soft. Justly tannic, it has an excellent persistence. An elegant, full-bodied wine. Perfect with main courses of red meat, game and well-aged hard cheeses.
