    The Quater Vitis Rosso is an all-Sicilian blend of Frappato, Nero d'Avola, Perricone and Nerello Cappuccio. The grapes represent a panorama of island viticulture. The wine opens to a dark ruby-garnet color with bright fruit aromas and balanced acidity to follow. It is impossible to identify one single variety, and that is exactly the point. You do instead get Sicilian power, density and ripeness.

    There’s a lot of sweet clove character on the nose, but that should come around with time and, besides, the raspberry cheesecake and cranberry sauce are both quite attractive. Full body, ripe and round tannins and a fruit-forward finish. A blend of nero d’avola, perricone, frappato and nerello cappuccio.

  • Quater Vitis Terre Siciliane IGT Rosso is not a simple wine. It's a one-way ticket to a trip to the heart of the largest island in the Mediterranean. An unusual blend of Nero d'Avola, Perricone and Frappato grown on the Pianoro Cuddìa estate, in the Trapani area, with Nerello Cappuccio from the Cavanera Estate on Etna. Four different harvests, in order to bring out all the goodness of each variety, and four separate vinifications. Each wine is then aged in American and French oak barrels for a maximum period of 10 months. Also in this case the choice of different woods is not based on the winemaker’s pure whim but a precise choice, since each wood brings a different woody note to the final wine. Compact ruby colour with lively violet hues, the nose reveals notes of red and black fruit with spices and chocolate. In the mouth it is defined juicy and soft. A nice natural tannicity is kept under constant control by a pleasant acidic component.

    Among the most representative wineries of Sicily there is undoubtedly Firriato. Modern in concept, style and marketing, Firriato is the brainchild of a visionary entrepreneur from Trapani, Salvatore Di Gaetano, who has always been supported by his charming wife Vinzia, who for years has also represented the public image of the winery in the world. We are in the 80s and Sicilian wine is about to live its golden age, its renaissance, as someone wrote in the past. Today, after almost 40 years, the Firriato winery is a solid reality, based in Paceco, between Trapani and Erice, and with vineyards scattered in different areas of Sicily. The hectares of vines owned are in fact about 320, divided into seven different estates, including one on the slopes of Etna and one on the island of Favignana. If in the countryside the most rigorous respect for nature reigns, in the cellar technology helps oenologists to make the most of each variety processed, whether native or international. The result is wines that are awarded by critics around the world and sought after by wine lovers year after year.
