Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute sarl Via di Nozzole 12 Greve in Chianti (FI)
Baia al Vento is a red wine with great structure and complexity, produced by Tenuta Campo al Mare, part of Tenute Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari. Located in the heart of the Bolgheri appellation, along the famous Strada Bolgherese, the estate covers approximately 17 hectares, mainly dedicated to the cultivation of Merlot. The vineyards are characterised by sandy-clay soils, rich in minerals and iron, which give the wine elegance and aromatic intensity. Merlot is also the absolute protagonist of this label, produced with grapes selected from the best vineyards of the estate. Vinification involves maceration for about 30 days at a controlled temperature, followed by ageing in French oak barrels, which help to develop the wine's aromatic complexity and structure. In the glass, Baia al Vento has a beautiful deep, intense ruby red colour. The nose reveals rich aromas of blackcurrant jam and blackberry, with wild notes of black truffle. On the palate, it is opulent, with subtle tannins and an exceptional structure. Good with Tuscan cuisine, it is simply ideal with mushroom or truffle dishes.
The Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari estates are one of the most interesting wineries in Tuscany, with roots dating back to the 18th century. The Folonari family began their wine-making business in the late 1700s, when Lorenzo Folonari, originally from Valtellina, started an entrepreneurial tradition that would profoundly mark the history of Italian wine. In 2000, Ambrogio and his son Giovanni Folonari founded the Ambrogio e Giovanni Folonari Tenute winery with the aim of enhancing the family's properties and producing high-quality wines. Today, the company comprises five estates located in some of the most renowned areas of Tuscany. Tenuta di Nozzole, located in the heart of Chianti Classico, Le Tenute del Cabreo, in Greve in Chianti, where Supertuscans such as Cabreo Il Borgo and La Pietra are produced. Then there is Tenuta La Fuga, in Montalcino, Campo al Mare in Bolgheri and Vigne in Porrona in the Tuscan Maremma. The Folonari family has always focused on innovation and quality. In recent years, the company has invested over €9 million in the construction of a new winery at Tenute del Cabreo, designed by architect Carlo Ludovico Poccianti.
