  • Sensations The first nose is decidedly fruity and floral with notes including ripe raspberries, blueberries and wild strawberries, along with clear hints of violets and cyclamen; then it opens up to perceptions of aromatic herbs and sweet tobacco. The taste, enveloping and soft, is persuasive and warm on a constant background of sweet tannins. The finish in the mouth is ample and insistent on notes of pleasant jams of berries, blackcurrants and vanilla with nuances of good sweet tobacco.

    Pinot Nero IGT del Veneto 2022
  • This Pinot Noir, Veneto IGT proposed by Serafini and Vidotto, is defined as 'young' because it has not stopped to rest in casks. But it is also young because it can be consumed immediately, a few months after bottling and sale. But it is young, above all, because it is a wine that has what it takes to grow quickly. It is produced from grapes harvested in Nervesa della Battaglia, in the province of Treviso. We are in the heart of the Veneto, a little to the south of Burgundy. But here, too, Pinot Noir has evidently found an ideal habitat and knows how to grow and bear magnificent fruit. Harvested between the end of August and the beginning of September, this red wine is aged only in steel and in the bottle, to preserve all the freshness of its initial fruit. Thus, you discover a beautiful goblet with a lovely ruby colour. The nose reveals a simple and inviting bouquet, with clear hints of small fruits and red flowers. On the palate, however, it surprises with its extraordinary balance between the concentration of aromas, sweet and ripe tannins, fruit and pleasant acidity. It is an easy wine to pair. It does not, in fact, require the dishes of a starred chef to be at ease. Excellent, for example, with a simple first course of tagliatelle with fresh porcini mushrooms, but also with second courses of white meat or even with a tasty tuna steak.

    The story of Serafini e Vidotto began in 1985, the first time the current owners of the company saw the green hills of the Montello-Colli Asolani DOC area. We are in the heart of the Veneto region, right in the centre of it all. Here, to the north-west of the city of Treviso, lies the first foothills. There were few vineyards then. But there was the inspiration that only a beautiful place can give. The hills, the woods, the valley, the banks. The ideal place to give life to one's own business. First harvest 1986. And since then little has changed in the winery: finesse, cleanliness, identity and character. Today the winery is proudly environmentally friendly. For us," reads the company website, "sustainability has become ethical. There is no other way of making wine". Thanks to the collaboration with researchers from various universities, today for Serafini and Vidotto "green" is first and foremost a way of thinking. For more than twenty years, for example, fertilisation has been carried out strictly with farm compost, mature and controlled manure or, alternatively, with certified organic fertilisers. There is no weeding, but laborious hoeing by hand, and above all different and targeted defence strategies, site by site. The harvest is, of course, strictly manual, as is the selection of the grapes before beginning the slow transformation process. All this is done to limit all intervention in the cellar as much as possible, and to succeed in reducing the use of sulphur dioxide to below 50% of the legal limits.
