    "196" Cabernet Sauvignon Costa Toscana IGT 2021
  • 196 is simply the house number of the Podere on the Via Bolgherese. We are in one of the most beautiful areas of Italy, visited every year by millions of tourists from all over the world. The Via Bolgherese is only a few kilometres from the sea and is the one on which many of Italy's most emblazoned estates overlook. 196, in this case, is an IGT Costa Toscana, obtained from a pure processing of Cabernet Sauvignon grapes. As is customary for the winery, the grapes are harvested by hand, selecting only the best bunches in the field. Once in the cellar, they are immediately destemmed, crushed and fermented in special tulip-shaped cement tanks called (precisely) Tulipe. Maceration lasts about 7-10 days. At the end of this process, the wine then rests in cement tanks for 8 months, followed by a further 2 months of maturation in the bottle. In the glass, one thus discovers a wine characterised by a beautiful, intense and lively red colour. The nose is decisive and exuberant, with fruity and vegetal notes that harmonise in a pleasant bouquet. In the mouth, on the other hand, there is a pleasant fruity note, accompanied in this case by a fresh natural acidity. It is the ideal red to accompany meat dishes, even spicy ones, or vegetables and cheeses of various ages.

    The story of the Podere begins, as often happens, through a friendship. In this case between two kids, Silvia Cirri and Livio Aloisi, in Bolgheri. A friendship that grew over the years and gave rise, in 2015, also thanks to the contribution of Silvia's nephew, Giovanni Gastel, to the Podere Conca project. The location is a historic property, located precisely in a conca, along the Via Bolgherese. Entirely organic production, Podere Conca's vineyards extend over 5.7 hectares of land in an area where some of the most renowned companies in the entire Denominazione are located. International varieties dominate the vineyard, with Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, Viognier and Petit Manseng, in addition to the typical Ciliegiolo. The Podere is completed by an olive grove with centuries-old trees and a total of around 800 olive trees, of the Leccino, Frantoio and Moraiolo varieties.
