  • Sensations Clear, very intense red. To the nose it is intense, persistent and fine, with scents of blueberry and ripe cherry, wrapped in a boisè note. The taste is dry, sufficiently fresh, savoury, warm, slightly tannic, full and persistent. Standing out in the aftertaste, the fruity aroma and the pleasant tannicity. Of excellent typicality and harmony.

    Ormeasco Superiore DOC of Pornassio
  • It's like flipping through an oenology manual, scrolling through the pages of Durin's catalogue of wines. Because the valorisation of ancient local vines is a steady point. As in this case where the wine proposed is a pure Ormeasco. This vine is a close relative of Dolcetto, from which it differs for the red stalk, the smaller bunch and for the thicker skin. Ormeasco generally has sweeter tannins and a greater capacity for ageing than its Piedmontese cousin. The wording Superiore is added if the wine is aged for at least one year and has a minimum natural alcohol content of 12.5 percent. The one proposed here by Durin has a very intense garnet colour. On the nose, hints of ripe blueberry and cherry, accompanied by a pleasantly boisé note. In the mouth it is dry, warm and slightly tannic.

    Durin is a small family-run farm with a long history. It is located in Ortovero, in the province of Savona and was founded in 1978 by Antonio Basso, the third generation of winemakers in his family. The first vineyards of the company date back to the twenties and today extend over 17 hectares, mostly terraced, in Valle Arroscia. The main autochthonous varieties of Liguria di Ponente are cultivated, thanks to a very particular microclimate, influenced by the hills and the sea which is only 7 kilometres away. In the winery, tradition and innovation happily coexist. So next to the traditional Ligurian wines there are other very special and interesting ones.
