Rossese DOC Riviera Ligure di Ponente - Durin

For fans of Ligurian wines, Rossese is a real must. A pleasantly drinkable red that can easily be combined with various traditional dishes. It is perfect, for example, with a dish of trenette al pesto but it can also generously accompany a tasty fish or a meat-based second course. The one proposed here by Durin is produced with grapes harvested in the vineyards of Ortovero and Ponterotto, and vinified according to tradition. In the glass it has a beautiful deep and not too intense ruby red colour. The nose reveals a broad, intense and persistent perfume. Pleasantly fruity, with hints of strawberry, raspberry, blueberry combined with notes of rose and a pleasant vinosity. In the mouth it is dry and savory but still fairly soft and pleasantly warm. Well-balanced in all its components, it has delicate tannins that contribute to making it pleasantly long.

Durin is a small family-run farm with a long history. It is located in Ortovero, in the province of Savona and was founded in 1978 by Antonio Basso, the third generation of winemakers in his family. The first vineyards of the company date back to the twenties and today extend over 17 hectares, mostly terraced, in Valle Arroscia. The main autochthonous varieties of Liguria di Ponente are cultivated, thanks to a very particular microclimate, influenced by the hills and the sea which is only 7 kilometres away. In the winery, tradition and innovation happily coexist. So next to the traditional Ligurian wines there are other very special and interesting ones.
