Imagine a natural amphitheatre, where the hills roll gently, kissed by the sun and caressed by the breeze. We are in the heart of the Asolo Hills, an area of great beauty, where vines sink their roots into soil rich in history and minerals. Here, in Nervesa della Battaglia, Il Rosso dell'Abazia, produced by Serafini & Vidotto, is born. It is made from a blend of international grape varieties that are perfectly suited to this area: Cabernet Sauvignon (60%), Cabernet Franc (30%) and Merlot (10%). These grape varieties give life to a wine of great structure and elegance. After the harvest, which takes place between the end of September and October, the grapes are vinified in wooden barrels. The wine then matures for 15-24 months, always in oak, refining its character and complexity. Finally, it rests in the bottle for at least 2 years before being released for sale. Intense ruby red in colour with garnet reflections, the nose is an explosion of aromas. Ripe fruit such as red plums and black cherries, candied citrus fruits, floral and herbaceous notes, with a balsamic touch. On the palate, it is full-bodied and enveloping, with elegant and perfectly integrated tannins. The finish is long, intense and complex. Perfect with succulent red meat dishes such as ribeye and T-bone steaks, pheasant with cacciatora sauce and mature mountain cheeses. Serafini & Vidotto is a winery in Nervesa della Battaglia, in the heart of Montello, in the province of Treviso.
It was founded in 1986 by Francesco Serafini and Antonello Vidotto, two friends united by a passion for wine and the land. Today, the winery is established as one of the most significant producers in the Montello-Colli Asolani DOC appellation. The Montello area, characterised by rolling hills and iron-rich clay soils, offers ideal conditions for viticulture. The proximity to the Piave river and the protection of the Alps create a microclimate favourable to the cultivation of grape varieties such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Recantina, Manzoni and, of course, the ever-present Glera. Today, the winery has around 25 hectares of vineyards, divided into several plots, each with its own unique characteristics. Among these, the “Colmel” vineyard is located on the highest hill in the village, while “Da Baracca” is located near the chapel dedicated to the aviator Francesco Baracca, a hero of the First World War. The winery has adopted sustainable agricultural practices from the outset, avoiding the use of chemical herbicides and promoting biodiversity through the planting of hedges and woods. Since 2019, Serafini & Vidotto has been certified “Biodiversity Friend”, demonstrating its commitment to environmentally friendly agriculture.
