    Barbaresco DOCG 2020
  • Coppi or Bartali? Inter or Milan? In Italy we are always ready to espouse one faction over another. In the field of wine, in Piedmont in particular, the open challenge is between Barolo and Barbaresco. Two great wines. Two different territorial expressions of an extraordinary vine, Nebbiolo, so sensitive to different terroirs as to give rise to two very different wines, even though they are born less than 10 kilometres from each other. Wine mysteries. Pleasures for wine lovers. In this case Castello di Neive offers a Barbaresco DOCG, the result of a reasoned blend of grapes from different vineyards that complement each other and achieve great harmony and pleasantness. A wine that is strongly representative of the entire Barbaresco area, in particular the commune of Neive. A rather limited production, also due to the low yield of the vines, which produce about 80 quintals of grapes per hectare. A total of 50 thousand bottles, for a wine that will undoubtedly give great satisfaction. In the glass it has a beautiful bright garnet red colour. The nose gives great satisfaction, thanks to a particularly fine and varied bouquet. In particular, notes of well-ripened small fruits, withered flowers, wood and spices. In the mouth, however, it is intense and elegant with a fine tannic texture. This is the wine to uncork at a nice dinner with friends. It is the important bottle to accompany main courses of meat and medium-aged cheeses. Good today, it will keep quietly for a few years in the cellar. But it is a shame to wait... Better to find a good opportunity to uncork it now!

The Azienda agricola Castello di Neive was founded in the early 1960s by engineer Italo Stupino. It is a beautiful business that is deeply tied to its territory and boasts a property of about 60 hectares, 27 of which are vineyards. A traditional winery, with great attention paid to the care of all transformation processes. The fermentation of the wines, in particular, takes place in modern cellars equipped with all the technology needed to monitor every step to the best of their ability. At the end of the transformation, then, the wines rest in barrels and barriques for the delicate phase of maturation. These are housed within the walls of the castle cellars. A historic place, where the oenologist Louis Oudart began the production of a dry wine, 'Neive', based on Nebbiolo, with which he won a gold medal at the London Exhibition of 1862.
