    Barbaresco DOCG 2020
  • Barbaresco DOCG, this red wine from Belcolle represents oenological excellence. A wine of great prestige, it is made from Nebbiolo grapes grown in the best hills of Barbaresco, Neive and Treiso. A particularly suited terroir. Here the vineyards enjoy a privileged position, with steep slopes and a south-southwest exposure that guarantees excellent sunshine and balanced ripening of the grapes. The sandy-calcareous soils, rich in minerals, give the wine structure and complexity. The vinification process of Belcolle's Barbaresco DOCG follows a rigorous process that enhances the characteristics of Nebbiolo. The grapes ferment in temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks for about 22-25 days. This is followed by post-fermentation maceration to extract colour and tannins. The wine then matures for 24 months in large oak barrels, where maturation is completed and complex aromas develop. A further refinement of 6 months in the bottle makes the wine ready to be tasted. Garnet red with beautiful clarity, this Barbaresco reveals an elegant and complex aromatic profile. The nose presents an intense and refined bouquet, characterised by notes of small red fruits, plums, cherries and spices. To these are added hints of dried flowers, liquorice and cocoa, with a mineral background that lends complexity. In the mouth it is soft and velvety, with well-integrated tannins and a pleasant freshness that makes it balanced and easy to drink. The structure is important and the aromatic persistence is long, with a mineral and lingering finish. Perfect for great occasions, it can also be offered as a meditation wine. It pairs ideally with main courses of red meat and game, first courses with mushrooms and mature cheeses.

A winery of excellence in the Langhe. We are talking about cantina Bel Colle, founded in the 1990s in Verduno, in the Langhe, thanks to the intuition of an enlightened oenologist, Paolo Torchio. Thanks to his far-sightedness, today the winery has become one of the most important realities in the area, with a focus on native grape varieties and a production philosophy that aims at elegance and finesse. Since 2015, the winery has been owned by the Bosio family, which has relaunched the purchase and arrangement of the vineyards, focusing on the highest quality expressions of the territory. Luca Bosio, the new generation of the family, represents the courage to take new paths and expand the vineyards. Mario Albrito, on the other hand, is the historical memory of the winery, a Langhe wine veteran with over 40 years of experience. Bel Colle is committed to sustainable viticulture and winemaking that respects differences. The parcelling out of the vineyards makes it possible to obtain labels that are increasingly representative of the link between the Langhe and its wines. Today, the winery can count on 10 hectares of vineyards between Verduno, the hills of the Langhe and the Asti region, which includes some of the most prestigious crus.
