The 2016 Barbaresco is fresh and lean with a bright and immediately open bouquet. This expression of Nebbiolo offers medium depth and persistence with wild cherry, rose, lavender and licorice-like aromas. You can drink this wine straight out of the gate or give it a few more years of bottle age.

  • James Suckling 93

Dried-strawberry and watermelon aromas as well as white truffle, follow through to a full body with lots of ripe fruit and a velvety, juicy finish. Drink from 2022.

  • Wine Enthusiast 92

Enticing aromas of violet and iris mingle with forest berry and crushed herb in this sleek, savory red. Smooth and elegantly structured, the bright palate shows juicy red cherry, blood orange and star anise alongside taut, polished tannins. It's already enjoyable but also has a youthful vibrance that will carry it for several years or more. Drink through 2027. KERIN O’KEEFE

  • Wine Spectator 94

Delicate floral and red fruit aromas and flavors peek through the eucalyptus, tar and tobacco notes and muscular profile of this red, though it will take some time for them to emerge and occupy center stage. This version is balanced, elegant and long in the end. Best from 2023 through 2040

    Barbaresco DOCG
  • Prunotto's Barbaresco is a traditional expression of the famous wine of the Langa. This Barbaresco is made from Nebbiolo grapes harvested in the communes of Treiso and Barbaresco. The production process involves maceration on the skins for about 10 days during alcoholic fermentation. Then the malolactic fermentation takes place and the wine is matured for 12 months in large oak barrels of different sizes. After bottling, the aging process continues for another 12 months in the cellar. Deep garnet red in colour, on the nose the most typical notes of small red fruits, spices, leather, tobacco and violets stand out. on the palate, however, it is well-structured. It has a very long persistence and is an easy wine to pair if we are planning a typical Piedmontese dinner.

It was in 1904 that the "Ai Vini delle Langhe" winery was founded in Serralunga d'Alba, but after just under twenty years it was sadly put into liquidation. So it was that in 1922 Alfredo Prunotto decided to invest in the project and succeeded in relaunching it. Since then, year after year, the Prunotto Winery has grown and achieved important goals, and in 1994 it became part of the Antinori universe. It currently extends over a total area of about fifty hectares of vineyards, distributed among some of the best wine growing areas in Piedmont, such as Bussia, Bric Turot and Costamiole.
