Called 'Ritorno In', it is an Alta Langa DOCG, Brut and Millesimato, produced only in the best vintages. It is offered here by the Piazzo Comm. Armando winery and represents an exciting return to the family's origins. A sparkling wine born of a profound bond with the land and a passion for viticulture. A label of great elegance and complexity. The grapes used for this wine come from vineyards located in the Alta Langa, an area vocated for the production of high quality sparkling wines. In the blend, 70% Pinot Noir and 30% Chardonnay complement each other perfectly, creating a unique balance of flavours and aromas. The grapes, harvested by hand and vinified separately, ferment in steel at a controlled temperature, with subsequent maturation of 7/8 months on the lees with frequent bâtonnage. Racking in the bottle, in accordance with the classic method, then involves ageing on the lees for at least 30 months. In the glass it has a lively straw-yellow colour with slight golden reflections. The nose opens with a complex and elegant bouquet, with hints of white-fleshed fruit, citrus fruits, white flowers, yeasts, bread crust and dried fruit. In the mouth, it is dry, full and persistent, with a pleasant acidic freshness and a mineral finish. A bubble of great versatility, it is ideal to accompany the entire meal, from hors d'oeuvres to white meat main courses. Also try it as an aperitif with a platter of sliced meats and fresh cheeses.
The valorisation of Nebbiolo and its ageing potential is one of the founding objectives of the Piazzo family's Alba company. Something that might seem obvious today but which at the time, we are in the 1960s, turned out to be a very important intuition. Those were the times, in fact, when Nebbiolo was preferred to other more sought-after and therefore more profitable varieties. The cultivated estates were located in different areas of the Langhe and Roero, with estate vineyards ranging from Barbaresco to Barolo, including the most typical varieties of the area. Over the years, under the leadership first of the founder Armando and his wife Gemma, then of their daughter Marina and her husband Franco, and finally of grandchildren Simone and Marco, the Piazzo Comm. Armando winery has made respect for the territory, the dissemination of Piedmontese culture and the continuous search for improvement its cornerstones. This has resulted in strongly territorial wines that have not struggled to achieve excellent results on all the world's markets.
