Alta Langa DOCG Blanc de Noir 2019 - Casa E. di Mirafiore

Alta Langa DOCG is synonymous with superior quality classic method bubbly. Because the strict production regulations of the DOCG impose very high standards, even for the simplest sparkling wines. In this case Mirafiore offers a Blanc de Noir version, a white sparkling wine made only from red grapes. Specifically, it is a 100% Pinot Noir, from the Serralunga d'Alba area, and matured for 36 months in a cool, dark environment, in keeping with production traditions. Poured into the glass, the sparkling wine has a straw-yellow colour with light golden reflections and a fine and persistent perlage that helps to enhance the aromas of white-fleshed fruit, dried fruit and bread crust. The structure typical of Pinot Noir is immediately perceived in the mouth, enhanced by the pleasant creaminess of the foam. Long persistence, freshness and excellent flavour are the sensations that remain in the mouth and in the memory at the end of the tasting. An excellent sparkling wine for the whole meal, this Alta Langa DOCG should be served with delicate but intense dishes. Excellent with fried fish, its natural freshness helps to cleanse the mouth between one mouthful and the next. A real delight.

Mirafiore is a historic winery in Italy. It was founded in the second half of the 1800s by Emanuele Alberto Guerrieri, Count of Mirafiore, son of the first King of Italy. Its estates are located in a unique environment, where the vines grow slowly, sinking their roots deep in search of water and nutrients. The result is grapes that are highly concentrated in aromas and flavours that expert winemakers know how to manage to express themselves at their best. Today, the company can count on 25 hectares of property in the communes of Serralunga d'Alba, in the Fontanafredda sub-zone, and in Barolo. Vineyards of medium and high hills, with an altitude between 300 and 480 metres above sea level. Since 2018 Casa E. di Mirafiore has become an Organic Farm, thus proving that it has not only a history of more than a hundred years but also an open vision towards the future.

  • Vinification The grapes, harvested in small 20 kg crates, are immediately brought to the winery and poured directly into the presses for a soft and delicate squeezing until about 50% of the yield in free-run must is obtained. The must is then transferred into temperature-controlled tanks where it remains for 24 hours, during which the coarser parts settle on the bottom of the tank and are separated from the clear part by decanting. At this point, the must begins its fermentation in steel tanks, which lasts about 20 days at temperatures between 18 and 20° C. Here it matures on its lees until the following spring. REFININGIn May, the wine is ready for a second fermentation, in the bottle, followed by a maturation process on the lees that lasts 36 months in a cool, dark environment in accordance with the production traditions of the Metodo Classico sparkling wine.
