Vermentino Bolgheri DOC 2022

It will be the sandy and clayey soils of the Tuscan coast. Maybe it's the mild climate, tempered by the presence of the sea. Or maybe it's a fortunate mix of conditions that experts call "terroir". The fact is that here, in Castagneto Carducci, in Bolgheri, in the province of Livorno, Vermentino is as good as anywhere else in the world. And the people at Podere Roseto know how to make the most of it, adding to the 85% Vermentino, 15% Chardonnay to give it strength and to make it, if possible, even more elegant and balanced. The result is this Bolgheri Vermentino DOC, the product of soft pressing and fermentation in steel vats with natural, indigenous yeasts. The result is a wine characterised by a beautiful, lively straw yellow colour, with ample and pleasant aromas reminiscent of fresh fruit and wild flowers. All this is well integrated with a pleasantly mineral and fresh note. In the mouth it opens with hints of acacia flowers and white pepper, and then reveals a wine that is well balanced between acidity and fruit, with an elegant, savoury and persistent finish. From aperitif to table, the step is really short with a white wine like this. Excellent with seafood and the classic spaghetti allo scoglio or with sea urchins, it is simply fantastic with a nice baked fish with potatoes and cherry tomatoes.
