There are labels that represent something special for companies. A very special bond due to a thousand circumstances. As in this case. P.R., in fact, was created to celebrate Monte Rossa's 35 years in business and its name is a tribute to the founders of the company who have the same initials: Paola Rovetta and Paolo Rabotti. It is a wine resulting from the passionate search for harmony and elegance. A Blanc de Blancs that combines amplitude, structure and complexity, due to the use in the cuvée of around 35% reserve wines, and the elegance typical of the best Chardonnay in Franciacorta, from the estate's best crus. 22, to be exact, distributed throughout the territory. Harvested by hand in boxes, vinification in the cellar begins with soft pressing, with selection of the best part of the grapes for no more than 55% of the yield. Each cru, of course, is vinified in purity, part in steel vats and part in oak barrels. Maturation in the bottle then continues for over 24 months. In the glass it has a beautiful straw yellow colour, covered with a soft mousse, nourished by a fine and persistent perlage. The nose is fresh, elegant, characterised by floral notes of lime and citrus nuances of white peach. In the mouth, then, it is balanced and defined, crisp and very pleasant. The lovely finish finally reveals a trace of savouriness. Excellent as an aperitif, it goes well with rich hors d'oeuvres based on cured meats and cheeses.
A historic winery in Franciacorta, at Monte Rossa the farming tradition has merged harmoniously with technology. Here, craftsmanship and research are managed with commitment and an uncompromising entrepreneurial mentality. Its history began in 1972, when entrepreneur Paolo Rabotti, with the support of his wife Paola, embarked on the road to viticulture. Today it is his son Emanuele who enthusiastically carries on that project. Among the first in Franciacorta to abandon the production of still wines, at Monte Rossa they have always invested in technology, continuing to experiment in the cellar. Today, the company can count on a vineyard of around 70 hectares, divided into numerous crus, on different soils and with different exposures, which contribute to broadening the aromatic heritage of the grapes, to compose cuvées rich in structure and complexity. Annual production is around 500 thousand bottles. All to be savoured.
