"Maria Costanza" Bianco Sicilia DOP 2025
    • Today we are in Campobello di Licata, in the province of Agrigento, in a terroir that the Milazzo family defines as “Terre della Baronia”. A fascinating anecdote concerns the winery’s philosophy: the Milazzos were pioneers of organic viticulture in Sicily when it was still a niche choice, convinced that only by respecting the balance of the land could the soul of the landscape be bottled. In this case, the blend features Inzolia as the protagonist, supported by a careful selection of Chardonnay biotypes specifically chosen to adapt to this climate. Inzolia provides the aromatic profile and territorial identity, while Chardonnay contributes structure and the acidity needed for a flawless taste progression. The grapes are harvested by hand in crates, selecting only the finest bunches. In the cellar, part of the must ferments in stainless steel at controlled temperature, while a selected fraction ferments in French oak barriques. The wine then ages for about six months on its lees (sur lie), with frequent bâtonnage that enhances richness and complexity, before further resting in bottle. Deep straw yellow with pronounced golden reflections. On the nose, it ranges from intense notes of Sicilian citrus fruits and bread crust to hints of vanilla and ripe tropical fruit. On the palate, it is broad, almost textural, yet immediately refreshed by a mineral streak that cleanses the palate. The finish is persistent, with returning toasted notes and Mediterranean scrub nuances that leave a highly aromatic trail. Already enjoyable today, Maria Costanza Bianco has remarkable ageing potential. It can evolve in the cellar for 5 to 7 years, developing tertiary notes of honey and hydrocarbons that make it even more fascinating. It is a white wine that is not afraid to challenge time.

We are in Campobello di Licata, in the province of Agrigento, in a land where the sun beats down intensely and the wind carries the scent of the sea. Here, the Milazzo family has built a winery that, over the decades, has become a true benchmark for those seeking Sicilian excellence, combining meticulous craftsmanship with a modern entrepreneurial vision. True pioneers, the Milazzos were among the first in Sicily to firmly believe in the potential of organic viticulture, at a time when it was still far from the spotlight. But that’s not all. Their greatest insight was to invest in sparkling wine production on Sicilian soil. If today we can enjoy Sicilian sparkling wines capable of competing with the great international names, it is largely thanks to the courage and foresight of this winery, which has managed to interpret the Traditional Method in a uniquely Mediterranean way. Milazzo’s philosophy is based on one fundamental concept: respect for biodiversity. The vineyards are not monotonous expanses, but living ecosystems where the vine coexists with local flora. In the cellar, the approach is “bio-integral”. It is not just about following regulations, but about applying a way of life that minimises human intervention, allowing nature to speak. This results in wines with an unmistakable “signature”: extreme aromatic purity and a structure that never tires the palate.
