  • Sensations The light and warmth of the vintage have given Lamaione extraordinary power and richness. Lamaione 2017 has an intense and impenetrable ruby red colour. On the nose, wonderful hints of cherry jam and plum. The hints of rhubarb, graphite, dark chocolate, liquorice and roasted coffee notes are also intriguing. In the mouth it is warm, soft and round. The tannic texture is remarkable with a dense yet silky texture.
  • Vinification Fermentation took place in temperature-controlled steel tanks. The wine was then matured for 24 months in 80% new French oak barriques, followed by a further 12 months in bottle.

  • Dominated by the ancient tower and the small medieval village, Tenuta CastelGiocondo is located south-west of Montalcino. We are at an altitude of about 300 metres, an ideal place for the production of Sangiovese. But not only. In fact, Lamberto Frescobaldi writes: "Animated by the courage that every person who wants to undertake a venture has, in the 1970s we planted the first Merlot vines on an unusual clay soil. An important challenge that led to the birth, in 1991, of Lamaione, a lone, powerful and proud knight in the Montalcino panorama. The grapes are carefully selected and harvested by hand in boxes. Once in the cellar, destemming is followed by manual sorting of the grapes. While fermentation takes place in temperature-controlled steel tanks. Then, at the end of vinification, the wine is aged for about two years in at least 80% new French oak barriques. Then, after bottling, follows a further 12 months of ageing in the bottle. Powerful and rich, Lamaione has an intense, impenetrable ruby red colour. On the nose, wonderful scents of cherry jam and plum, with intriguing hints of rhubarb, graphite, dark chocolate, liquorice and roasted coffee. In the mouth, it is warm, soft and round, with a fine, dense yet silky tannic texture.
