    A blend of equal parts Carricante and Chardonnay, the NV Metodo Classico Blanc de Blancs Gaudensius opens to thick and soft beading with rich aromas of summer peach and lemon blossom. This sparkling wine from Etna reveals creamy sensations of stone, tropical fruit and baked bread on the close. Some 13,000 bottles were produced.

  • A perfect synthesis. Between an autochthonous vine and an international one, but also between two territories as far apart as Etna and the Trapani countryside. Born from these extremes is Gaudensius Blanc de Blancs, a classic method sparkling wine thought of by Firriato to give its many fans a bubble of great value, capable, if not of beating, at least of holding its own against the noble Champagne. Gaudensius is in fact the result of the vinification of Carricante and Chardonnay. The first grape is typical of the island and finds an ideal habitat on the slopes of Etna, the second is the expression of a cru from the Borgo Guarini vineyard, to adapt well to the delicate process of sparkling wine making. The refinement is prolonged for more than 30 months and the final result is a bubble of great personality, characterized by a goldish-pale straw yellow color. The nose is fresh, elegant and complex with notes of white fruits, acacia flowers, hazelnut and honey, enhanced by mineral sensations. In the mouth, however, it is delicate, elegant and concentrated. Characterized by an exceptional permanence on the palate and good aromatic persistence.

    Among the most representative wineries of Sicily there is undoubtedly Firriato. Modern in concept, style and marketing, Firriato is the brainchild of a visionary entrepreneur from Trapani, Salvatore Di Gaetano, who has always been supported by his charming wife Vinzia, who for years has also represented the public image of the winery in the world. We are in the 80s and Sicilian wine is about to live its golden age, its renaissance, as someone wrote in the past. Today, after almost 40 years, the Firriato winery is a solid reality, based in Paceco, between Trapani and Erice, and with vineyards scattered in different areas of Sicily. The hectares of vines owned are in fact about 320, divided into seven different estates, including one on the slopes of Etna and one on the island of Favignana. If in the countryside the most rigorous respect for nature reigns, in the cellar technology helps oenologists to make the most of each variety processed, whether native or international. The result is wines that are awarded by critics around the world and sought after by wine lovers year after year.
