Imbottigliato all'origine da Azienda Agricola Cantori Roberto, sede operativa Cantina e Vigneti.Contrada Arsicci, Apiro (MC) 62021
Roberto Cantori founded his Fattoria Nannì almost as a wager in Apiro, in the heart of the Marche region, to save old vineyard rows over fifty years old that were about to be uprooted. We are in a corner of land where nature accepts no compromise and where wine has always been the main character. We are on the Macerata side of the denomination, in a natural amphitheatre protected by Monte San Vicino. Here, the climate is kept “under control” by the cool currents of the Apennines and the mild influence of the Adriatic Sea. The soil, on the other hand, is a precious mix of clay and limestone, elements that give the grapes a solid structure and a distinctive acidic backbone. Apiro is historically known as one of the coolest areas for Verdicchio, a feature that allows slow ripening and aromatic profiles of rare elegance, far from excessive sugar concentration. In the vineyard and in the cellar, Fattoria Nannì follows a strict organic philosophy, treating each bunch as a unique piece. The vineyards lie at around 450 metres above sea level, an altitude that guarantees temperature swings capable of fixing aromas. After manual harvesting, the must ferments in concrete and steel tanks at controlled temperature. The wine then remains on its lees for about six months, an essential resting phase that gives it that typical richness and depth without ever resorting to oak. On the nose, it is a sequence of clean sensations: green apple stands out immediately, followed by notes of white flowers, fresh almond and a touch of herbs reminiscent of Mediterranean scrub. On the palate, sapidity is the true protagonist. It is a straight, vibrant wine, with a mineral, almost saline finish that immediately calls for another sip. The finish is persistent, with that typical slightly bitter touch that is the hallmark of great Verdicchio.
We are in Archi, a small hamlet of Cupramontana, in the heart of the Marche region. Here stands Fattoria Nanni, a winery that perfectly represents the “new wave” of Marche wines, built on uncompromising quality. Fattoria Nanni belongs to Roberto Cantori who, after travelling the world and working in prestigious wineries in France and Italy, chose to return home to focus on a single great protagonist: Verdicchio. In the cellar, work is carried out with discretion, allowing the grapes to tell their own story. This approach translates into careful and sustainable vineyard management, where vineyard care is the first and most important act of winemaking. The secret of Fattoria Nanni lies in a magical combination: altitude and soil. The vineyards lie at around 450 metres above sea level, a significant altitude that ensures ideal day-night temperature variation to preserve aromas and acidity. The soil is made up of calcareous marl and clay, a combination that gives the wines a vibrant minerality and elegant structure. It is no coincidence that Fattoria Nanni wines are recognised for their purity and verticality. Never overly charming or heavy. Here, the focus is entirely on finesse.
