    "Veronica" Pecorino Offida DOCG 2024
    • Le Caniette's Pecorino Offida DOCG ‘Veronica’ is a sip of authenticity from the Marche region. But let's proceed in order. Pecorino is a native grape variety, whose rediscovery in the Piceno area is a fascinating story. It is said that its name derives from the custom of shepherds bringing their flocks to graze near the vineyards, heedless of the grapes that were being eaten and which today give life to such a unique wine. It grows on loose, calcareous soils which, combined with the sea breezes that rise from the nearby coast and the hilly microclimate of Ripatransone, help to enhance its personality. We are in one of the most suitable areas of the Marche region, among hills that plunge steeply into the sea, and where viticulture has a thousand-year-old tradition. The grapes are harvested manually, selecting only the best bunches. This is followed by a delicate vinification process that begins with a resting phase in cold rooms to preserve the aromatic freshness. The ageing of “Veronica” is another crucial detail: the wine matures for six months in used barriques and steel tanks. This step gives it not only structure but also an unmistakable flavour and intensity, without the wood being too intrusive. In the glass, it is straw yellow in colour, lively and bright. The nose is intense and fruity. It is full and vibrant on the palate. The marked freshness and pleasant savouriness find a perfect balance with the beautiful body of this Marche white wine, making it pleasantly drinkable and persistent. Thanks to its structure and acidity, this white wine has good ageing potential. Over time, its aromatic profile will be enriched with more complex and tertiary notes, gaining further elegance.

The Le Caniette winery, located in the heart of the Marche region, in Ripatransone, is an example of how passion, experience and a deep connection with the territory can give life to wines of great character. A history made up of skilled hands and respect for nature. A family business, now in its fourth generation, with a genuine spirit. An “artisan” approach that combines farming expertise with the latest innovations. The goal? To express the full potential of native grape varieties, without forcing them. The Le Caniette vineyards are located on rolling hills, in an enviable position: a stone's throw from the sea, close enough to feel the breeze, but with a unique microclimate that combines Mediterranean influences with cooler ones. The soils, rich in limestone, sand and clay, give the wines a minerality and structure that make them unmistakable. This particular balance between soil, climate and love for the vine translates into wines that are the true expression of the Marche terroir. Another fundamental aspect of their production is their commitment to sustainability. Le Caniette has been practising certified organic farming for years, a choice dictated not by fashion but by a deep conviction that respect for the environment is the only way forward. This philosophy is reflected in every detail, from the use of natural products in the vineyard to the choice of eco-friendly packaging. It is a tangible testimony to their motto: “those who forget how to care for the land forget themselves”.
