Imbottigliato all'origine dalla Cantina Torre dei Beati
There is a simple way to sum up this wine: freshness and elegance in a glass. But there is much more to discover. Playing with flowers is not just a name. It is a sensory promise. Torre dei Beati is located 300 metres above sea level, between the rolling hills of Loreto Aprutino and the Gran Sasso. Here, the winery benefits from a unique microclimate: fresh mountain air descends at night, while during the day the sea breeze blows in from the Adriatic. These are ideal conditions for organic viticulture, where Pecorino produces aromatic and mineral grapes. A native variety rediscovered in Abruzzo years ago, known for its sparse bunches and early ripening, its curious name is linked to the peculiar habit of sheep grazing on its bunches. Manual harvesting and harvesting in successive stages ensure the selection of the best grapes and the right freshness of the fruit. Fermentation takes place entirely in temperature-controlled steel tanks, followed by 6 months of ageing “sur lies” (on the lees) in stainless steel. No ageing in wood: in this case, the aim is maximum cleanliness and purity of the fruit. Intense straw yellow colour with golden reflections, the nose immediately reveals a refined bouquet of white flowers, such as jasmine and gardenia, followed by citrus fruits, honey and herbaceous notes such as sage, rosemary and lavender. On the palate, it is soft but vibrant, with a sharp, mineral acidity that makes it very lively. Long and mouth-watering finish, rich in saliva production that invites you to take another sip. Excellent with creamy dishes such as risotto and gnocchi with gorgonzola or fondue, it goes well with fish from the Adriatic and medium-aged cheeses.
The name Torre dei Beati is taken from a detail of an important 15th-century fresco that adorns the counter-façade of the local church of S. Maria in Piano. The Torre dei Beati represents the final goal towards which the souls newly arrived in the afterlife strive, facing difficult trials. This parable also reflects the guiding principle of the winery, which, through rigorous selection in the vineyard and in the cellar, seeks to express the best of traditional grape varieties in every vintage. We are located in the Loreto Aprutino area, which is particularly suited to the production of quality wines. The company was founded in 1999, when Fausto and Adriana decided to take over the old family vineyard and immediately convert it to organic farming, in the belief that the quality of a wine is closely linked to respect for the land that produces it. Today, the company has a total of 21 hectares of vineyards.
