World War I had been over for a handful of years in Europe. Vittorio and his wife Giuseppina make the courageous decision to leave their native Italy to seek their fortune in Australia. Thus, in 1927, Vittorio began to work his first vineyards with passion and expertise. The first "blocks". And this wine, this important Australian Shiraz, is really meant to be a tribute to the courage of Vittorio and Giuseppina. This is the classic full-bodied and rewarding red wine, made from pure grapes, harvested at full ripeness, that is, when the berries have reached the right level of sweetness and the sugar can be attacked by the selected yeasts in the cellar to give birth to a full-bodied and richly fragrant wine. Vittorio and Giuseppina De Bortoli, unmistakably of Italian descent, left a war-torn Europe about 90 years ago to seek their fortune and make a new life on the other side of the world.
